The shortest record of summiting all 14×8000m belongs to South Korean climber, Kim Chang-ho, who completed in seven years, 10 months and six days ... Kim was killed, along with several others including fellow South Korean climbers and local mountain guides, in Nepal in October, 2018, when an avalanche destroyed the 3500m-altitude base camp beneath Mount Gurja in the Dhaulagiri.

K2 statistics... summer2019

According to Alan Arnette's page: this summer over 30 people made the summit, including at least seven not using supplemental oxygen. While impressive total summits, this is about a 30% summit rate given at least 100 climbers had K2 permits for the summer of 2019, And there were no deaths on K2 this season

First ascent of GASHERBRUM VII

On July 20, Two renowned Italian climbers Francesco Cassardo and Cala Cimenti made the first ascent of Gasherbrum VII in Pakistan

Unfortunately on descent by ski, Francesco Cassardo fell for a few hundred meters
Suddenly Cala Cimeniti joined him and requested for aerial urjent

The permits arrived quickly, but it was late. Aerial rescuers will carry out the intervention today morning

At the same time the Italian mountaineer Marco Confortola will join the rescuers from Gasherbrum Basecamp

At this moment there is no information about the injuries of climber

Project 14/7

Nirmal Purja After successfully summited Gasherbrum2 on July 18, today he arrived at K2 basecamp where most of teams abandoned their expeditions

But Nirmal is determined to ascent K2

His plan is to push for summit on 24th
The remaining climbers will follow 24 hrs later due to safety reasons
On spring 2019 and only in 31 days, He summited 6 of the 8000m peaks ... Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Kanchenjunga, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu
